A CHAYIL WOMAN: UNIQUE, PRECIOUS, & RARE
Most women like jewelry. And the more unique the piece and the more precious the stone, the better. The rarer the jewelry the better -- you know, something exclusive. Well the way we like our jewelry is the way men like their women -- unique, precious, and rare. Proverbs 31 describes the Chayil Woman as more precious than rubies; “Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10, NLT). Other translations describe her as valued far more than precious jewels; others articulate that her value far exceeds the finest jewels. So in essence, a man puts higher value in a Chayil Woman than he does in the most precious and finest of jewels.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT RUBIES?
Sis, haven’t you always wondered, “why rubies?” I sure have! I guess if diamonds are a girl's best friend, then rubies are a man’s best friend. According to Beldiamond, rubies are one of "the most valuable and sought-after gemstones in the world". Geology In considers rubies to be one of the four most precious stones in the world. They explain further that these precious stones are “gemstones which are highly valuable for their hardness and rarity, [and] are known as Precious Stones. Precious Stones are generally expensive in comparison of Semi-Precious Stones.” Rubies are rare and hard, just like a Chayil Woman!
Rubies are one of the most valuable and sought-after gemstones in the world.
Diaman-Gem explains that “rubies are one of the most coveted stones.” Minerals.net articulate that “beside its bright color, it is a most desirable gem due to its hardness, durability, luster, and rarity.” WOAH!! So rubies are not only rare and hard, but exude beauty and luster, which add to their value. A beauty and luster and comes from the inside! When you read more about rubies, you will learn that there are tiny inclusions on the inside like needles. And when polished these needles cause the stone to exhibit asterism. When transparent, these asterism which are inclusions on the inside, can make a ruby to be very highly priced (Mineral.net). So, a rubies' internal characteristics play a huge part in it’s value.
According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), rubies “can command the highest prices of any colored gemstone. The per-carat prices of fine-quality rubies have been rising consistently, many times breaking auction records.” New World Encyclopedia reminds us that “rubies adorn the crowns of kings and symbolize wealth and luxury.” The Chayil Woman is more precious and more valuable than even the jewels on the crown that her man wears.
A CHAYIL WOMAN’S WORTH
Sis, that’s you! You are more precious and more valuable than a ruby!! We’ve looked at what the gemologists and gem experts have to say about the value and characteristics of a ruby:
Highly Valuable
Sought-After
Most Coveted
Rare
Precious
Hard
Durable
Luster
Highly Priced
Wealth
Luxury
Your value Sis is even far beyond these qualities of a ruby! Not only does your earthly king know your value as a Chayil Woman, but our Heavenly Father also reminds us consistently of our high value throughout scripture. Here are 10 of my favorite affirmations of who I am in the eyes of my Creator:
Psalms 139:14 (NKJV) - I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
Psalms 17:8 (AMP) - Keep me [in Your affectionate care, protect me] as the apple of Your eye; Hide me in the [protective] shadow of Your wings.
Zechariah 2:8 (NLT) - After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.
Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV) - The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) - For I know the plans I have for you.” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Isaiah 49:15 (NLT) - “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!
Mattew 10:29-31 (NLT) - What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) - For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) - But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Genesis 1:27 (ESV) - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS
Sis, your worth is immeasurable and invaluable. Your Heavenly Father says so!! Do not sell yourself short! Rubies and diamonds are highly valued, but you are worth so much more. Treat yourself as such, and ensure that others also treat you the same way.
One of the practical things I like to do to remind myself to speak God's word over myself is that I take my favorite scriptures and words of affirmation and write them on Post-It notes, and place them on the mirror in my bedroom. So that each time I look in the mirror, I am reminded of my worth and who GOD says I am. Try it this week! Whether in your bedroom, bathroom, or even on the computer monitor at your desk, add a few Post-Its to remind you daily of your worth.
"The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord."
If you are a Sister still waiting on your king, be sure to remember your worth when a man steps to you. You will be the most precious stone in his crown, and he should treat you as such. The bible says that "the man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22 NLT). Sis, you are a TREASURE! For my Sisters who are already married, nurture a home where your king always honors you as his most precious possession that he has. And where you feel there is a lack, remember that you can solve the problem on your knees in prayer. You are precious Sis! You are valuable! You are worthy!
