SIS, Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025! The calendar has flipped, and there’s nothing quite like the fresh start of a new year. It’s a chance to reset, refocus, and realign with what God has for us in this new season.
But let’s be real—stepping into something new can feel heavy if we’re still carrying the clutter of the past. That’s why this January, let’s focus on decluttering—not just our homes, but also our hearts, minds, and schedules. By making room, we can fully embrace the peace, joy, and purpose God wants to pour into our lives this year.
Step 1: Declutter Your Space
Your home should be a place of peace, not stress. Proverbs 24:3-4 reminds us, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Let’s make space for the treasures that truly matter.
Here’s how to get started:
Pick one area at a time: Start small—maybe your closet, your workspace, or even just that “junk drawer.”
The 3-box rule: Label boxes Keep, Donate, and Toss, and be honest with yourself about what you really need.
Bless others: Your gently used items could be answers to prayer for someone else. Acts 20:35 reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Step 2: Declutter Your Calendar
A new year often brings fresh commitments, but let’s not overfill our plates. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
This January, be intentional with your time:
Evaluate your priorities: What truly aligns with God’s purpose for you this year?
Say “no” with grace: It’s okay to step back from things that no longer serve you or your calling.
Make time for rest: Even Jesus took time to rest and recharge (Mark 6:31). Build margin into your schedule to protect your peace.
Step 3: Declutter Your Mind
It’s not just our homes and calendars that get cluttered—our thoughts can too. Anxiety, comparison, regrets—let’s lay those down at the feet of Jesus. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus on what’s true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable.
Here’s how to clear the mental clutter:
Pray it out: Spend time in prayer, releasing your worries to God. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Journal regularly: Writing your thoughts down can bring clarity and help you let go of what’s weighing on you.
Create healthy habits: Start your mornings with quiet time in the Word and replace endless scrolling with intentional moments of gratitude.
Step Into 2025 Ready to Receive
Decluttering isn’t just about getting rid of things—it’s about making room. Room for peace. Room for joy. Room for God’s “new thing” in your life. Isaiah 43:19 reminds us, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” And in this season, I feel very much convicted by the Holy Spirit to get rid of things and declutter, in order to make room for the great things God has in store for me in 2025.
Sis, this is your year to let go of what no longer serves you and step boldly into the fullness of what God has prepared for you. Let’s start this January with intention—clearing the clutter and opening our hearts to His plans.
I’m with you every step of the way, cheering you on and doing the work right alongside you. Let’s make this the year we step into peace, purpose, and possibility.
Here’s to a decluttered, refreshed, and abundant 2025!
